Is solid-ink printer exactly the same as a photocopying machine?

I was just wondering. Is solid-ink printer means a photocopying machine? Or a photocopying machine is just one example of a solid-ink printer? I hope you get my point. please elaborate further. thank you!Is solid-ink printer exactly the same as a photocopying machine?
A solid-ink printer uses solid ink sticks that are melted down to a liquid state then sprayed onto a steel drum surface and then transferred and applied to paper. These have been around for at least a decade or more.

Most photocopying machines are/were toner based. The original photocopiers used light and mirrors to create an exact image onto a light sensitive drum and duplicate the image to paper. Many All-In-One and copy machines today use a scanner to convert the image into a digital format and use either a laser or inkjet printer to make the duplicate copies.

So in answer to your question, no, solid-ink printer does not mean a photocopying machine.

Hope that helps. Is solid-ink printer exactly the same as a photocopying machine?
Currently, solid-ink printers and copy machines are sold only by Xerox. They are relatively new to the market and are kind of expensive.

Solid ink works like drawing with a crayon, the printer just rubs the ink across the page.
