Depends which independent ink you use. The ones I use are formulated especially for my printer. I put the new cartridge on a sheet of kitchen paper and allow a blob to go onto the paper. Then when I bought other inks I'd test the colour by putting a blob of the independent inks by the side of the originals. The colour match of my current independent ink is spot on and the inks are in big bottles as I am a heavy user of ink as I print all the time. I also have the chip re-setter as I have a 5 ink Canon printer and this re-sets the ink levels so the printer thinks it's a new cartridge. I have only bought two original cartridges since I bought it and I have never had leakage problems from refilling them, but I have been doing refilling for years. I have saved so much money from refilling that I could buy a new printer if this one went. An original cartridge costs 拢12 and to refill it costs me 49p. I can refill 24 times for the price of an original so it definitely saves money but not all makes of cartridges refill well.Which is better - printer ink from the printer manufacturer, or less expensive ink?
I have a lexmark Z 2480 the cartridge is round about 拢17.
I have been refiling my cartridges for about a year now, the original refill kit cost me 拢13 but will fill the cartridge 8 times, as the printer is no longer under guarantee and printers are so cheap if it does throw a fit i have lost little.
The only problem is that on some printers the cartridges are chipped so you will have to google it to find a fix.
Some printers will tell you that the cartridge is empty even when it has been filled, there are programs to download to get rid of these massages, i just ignore the messages.
I would say as long as the printer is out of guarantee give it a go, it's easy.
I hate to disagree with a previous poster but I have found the original ink runs out much faster. Epson gives a miserly 12ml of ink in their newer cartridges. The compatibles I use give 20 ml and they cost about 80% less. Is there a difference in quality? Not to my eyes, but I'm not a professional photographer. Will they last 100 years like Epson claims? Ask me in 90 years. I have photos hanging on my office wall I printed 10 years ago with an Epson 640 and compatible ink that still look good. I am happy to pay $3 for a 20ml cartridge instead of $20 for a 12 ml from Epson. Try http://ccs-digital.com
I use only the manufactures ink and toner in my printers at home. At work in the IT department we use the less expensive type of toner and ink have had quite a few problems with the toners leaking and the ink cartages drying up after a few days.
Go take a look at this site I have bought in the above printer ink should have the http://www.fullfillcartridge.com
always find originals best seem to last longer and don't clog but that's just personnel experience
