What ink jet colour printer would do the job at a bargain price?

Now I am involved in digital photography ameture level and wish to be professional soon as possible. Can you recommend a good entry level photo quality ink jet printer? I would prefer that it can print up to A3 size and no more than a couple of years old.What ink jet colour printer would do the job at a bargain price?
Look at the Epson Stylus Photo R260. It costs under $100 and supports many features in the print with preview in Photoshop. The ink is quite expensive (about $20 for each color and there are five ink cartridges plus black).





Most of the best ink jet printers have at least one black cart, one yellow and two magenta and two cyan carts. That is only part of the story. Go with Canon or Epson. They give the best image quality. The Canon ip5000 is cheap but gives an excellent image. The resolution is so fine, you actually need a magnifying glass to see the dots and most people cant tell the difference between an image from this printer and a realy photograph.
I have used a Canon A3 printer in the past, and personally I have found it more economical to take my images in and get them printed at even Kmart. They use Kodak paper and quality ink and I do not have to stock paper or ink, and if they dont print right, they reprint for you. I have used the instant print service, but the 6hr service is almost half the cost. Some places give you the option of paper finishes like high gloss or matt and some places have the grainy pro looking papers or even canvas, obviously you pay a premium for these services, maybe worth a look. I know its not as convienient as printing at home, but I have found it is cost effective, especially if you can pass on the costs. Happy snapping.
